Precision Screws for Makers and Fabricators
Shop precision screws in 4-40 and 8-32 threads for securing clips, threading into Chicago screw and slotted posts, and assembling frames, handles and EDC gear. Flat, button, socket, truss, pan and oval heads are offered in steel, stainless or titanium, and the CKK Designer Line adds decorative Galaxy, Knight's Cross and Spanner heads.
Material is a good place to start, because black oxide steel gives a clean, durable finish while 302HQ stainless steel adds corrosion resistance and DFARS compliance. For lighter hardware, the CKK Design titanium screws are machined from 6AL4V, which is strong for its weight and naturally resists corrosion. The CKK Designer Line Chicago screws, machined from 304 stainless, take a mirror polish.
Seven of the 8-32 screws come from CKK Industries, made in the USA, sold individually and threaded from .1875 inch to 1.00 inch long depending on the style. Their flat and truss heads can be driven with Phillips or Torx, while the oval, pan and flat-top truss heads take a Phillips driver. For clip mounting, a hardened steel Phillips flat head is shaped to recess into its mounting post, letting the clip snap on and off with less effort.
For larger jobs, 25-packs are available in both threads, with the 8-32 Torx button head in 302HQ stainless and the stainless Torx flat, button and socket heads among the 4-40 screws. The rest of the 4-40 range comes in 1-packs, from a black oxide flat head Phillips to CKK Design titanium button and socket heads and the SK Design shallow socket head by Steve Kelly, which seats cleanly in tight-clearance frame assemblies and custom handles.
